As a parent, getting your child to and from school safely can often be the most stressful part of the day. At Ipswich School, we want to take that stress away.

We are delighted to announce a long-term contract and strategic partnership with StudentSafe; a trusted, UK-based company that has been providing tailored home-to-school transport solutions for independent schools since 2016.

With StudentSafe now on board, we are significantly enhancing our travel provision, offering even greater peace of mind to our families.

How do I register?
To register, simply click on the “Register” button located in the bottom right corner of the Parent app home page. You’ll need to provide your email address, which must match the one you’ve registered with the school for security reasons.The system will then send a One Time Passcode (OTP) to your registered mobile for verification. Once entered, you’ll be prompted to set up your password.

 

My email will not work when registering?
The email should be the same address we use for other school systems. If you would like to request a change of email address, please access https://my.ipswich.school and to go to ‘My Account’.

 

When registering my email, I didn’t receive a 6 digit code?
If you didn’t receive a code, it’s likely that your mobile number doesn’t match the records held by the school. If you would like to request a change of mobile number, please access https://my.ipswich.school and to go to ‘My Account’.

Where can I find the bus routes and timetables?
You can find detailed bus routes and timetables on this website. Explore each route to see bus stops and departure/arrival times.

What if I would like an additional stop?
Our service can be flexible, and additional stops may be added where there is sufficient demand and they fit within existing routes.

To request a new stop, please complete our short form for review by StudentSafe. All requests are assessed at the next half term or end of term, whichever comes first. If you have any questions or need help completing the form, feel free to contact us at [email protected].

What if I need different stops/routes during the week to accommodate my child’s regular travel?
If you require split bookings,  please email us at [email protected] for assistance.

How will billing work?
Contract bookings made in line with billing deadlines will be added to your termly invoice by Ipswich School’s fees department. These deadlines will be communicated throughout the school year. Please note, the deadline for Michaelmas Term has now passed, please contact StudentSafe if you need further assistance.

For ad hoc bookings, payments will be processed by StudentSafe at the time of booking. Payment must be made via debit/credit card through the StudentSafe parent app.

 

If I book my child on the bus but they do not travel, will they still be charged?
Yes, as the seat is reserved for your child, no other student can take that seat.

 

If I cancel my booking after half term, will I get a refund?
No, billing is for the whole term to facilitate route planning and capacity prediction.

 

If I start my booking after half term, will I be charged less?
No, billing is for the whole term. This allows us to plan the routes, stops and bus capacity.

 

How do I cancel/give notice for the bus service?
All bookings are termly and must be made in advance. If you wish to cancel or reduce your bookings partway through term, you will still be charged for the remainder of that term. We require a terms notice for any cancellations or booking reductions, in line with our terms and conditions.

How do I request a refund?

What if I need to amend my travel arrangements?
If you need to update your booking to reflect your child’s academic and co-cirricular schedule for the upcoming term please email us at [email protected], and we’ll assist you. All other requests for cancellations or booking reductions will be processed in line with the Cancellation Policy (refer to Terms and Conditions).

What to do if the school bus is running late?
Wait at your stop for 10 minutes after the scheduled pick-up time.
Check the StudentSafe parent app for bus tracking and updates.
If the bus hasn’t arrived, contact the StudentSafe control centre at 01473 974264.

What if my child misses the bus?
While we recommend being at the stop at least 5 minutes early, our buses should not depart before their allocated time.
If your child misses the bus, you’ll need to arrange their journey to School and please notify us at [email protected]

Fobs
Pupils will receive fobs for easy boarding and disembarking.
These provide live tracking for your child’s journey to and from school, to ensure accurate parent notifications are sent via the StudentSafe Parent app.
Lost fobs can be replaced for a charge of £5 at the School office.

Urgent enquiries regarding live service issues can be made between 6.30am and 9am and 4pm and 7pm.

Terms and Conditions

Bookings

Parents/guardians must register/re-register pupils each year for the bus service, using the StudentSafe App.

Priority will be given to parents booking 3 journeys or more per week. Contract bookings are regular weekly scheduled bookings that repeat each week throughout the year. Ad hoc bookings are one off bookings i.e. non repetitive. Ad hoc bookings will open at the start of term.

Booking windows and registration periods will be communicated throughout the year.

Journeys booked but not taken are non-refundable. Any journey cancelled, ad hoc, via the App, will not reduce the amount charged. Cancellations must be made in line with the cancellation policy set out below.

The School offers bus service bookings on a first come first served basis. Although the School will do its utmost to accommodate all reasonable requests for use of the service, the School has no obligation to increase capacity on any route.

Payment Options

Fees for Contract Bookings, that are made within the allotted booking window, will be added to School Invoices on a termly basis. Any Ad Hoc bookings must be paid for via the app at the time of booking.

Cancellation Policy

Parents/guardians wishing to withdraw their children from the service entirely, partially or ad hoc must provide a full term’s notice, by email to [email protected], and copied to [email protected]. A ‘full term’s notice’ means that the notice is submitted on or before the first day of the preceding term

If a full term’s notice is not provided you will forfeit the full term’s charges in lieu. This means that you will have to pay for all previously booked journeys, even if you do not plan to use the transport during subsequent terms. An email notification must be provided otherwise the cancellation will be treated as though no notice has been given.

Use of the service

Pupils must ensure they travel on the route for which they are registered.

Pupils must use their FOB as they board and disembark the vehicle. If a student has lost their FOB they must give their name to the driver and replace their FOB as soon as possible. Replacement FOBs are available at the School Office for a fee of £5.00.

Passengers are advised that they need to be at stops 5 minutes before the advertised time.

Parents/guardians are asked to remind their children that when travelling on the school buses they remain bound by the School’s Behaviour Policy.

Parents/guardians are asked to remind their children that they must abide by the School’s bus travel Pupil Code of Conduct.

Changes to use of the service

The School reserves the right to make route and timetable alterations after publication but will provide notice of any such action.

Contact numbers

If you have an urgent query about your child’s bus route during service, then please contact the StudentSafe control centre on 01473 974264. This number is staffed from 06:30 in the morning to cover travel into school. It is also covered until 19:00 during the school-to-home run.

Lost property

Should a pupil leave any item on a school bus then parents should contact StudentSafe either via email: [email protected] or by phone 01473 974264 to report the loss providing the bus route and a description of the item(s).

StudentSafe will contact the appropriate bus company to find out if the item has been found. Pupils can then pick up the item on the next run.

Pupil Code of Conduct

Pupils must:

  • Be ready to board at the allotted time standing at the bus stop. If late, the bus will be unable to wait
  • Travel on their designated bus only
  • Carry their fob at all times and produce it when asked by a driver or member of staff
  • Be polite and respectful to the driver at all times
  • Be polite and respectful to all other passengers at all times
  • Follow any instruction from the driver without question – it is for their safety and the safety of others
  • Stay in their seats with seat belts fastened
  • Look after their belongings and keep them in a safe place
  • Remove all belongings from the bus
  • Take litter off the bus
  • If they see someone behave badly on the bus, inform the school or their parents. The driver’s role is to drive the bus safely and not to be responsible for dealing with any poor behaviour unless it affects safety
  • Make sure any necessary medication is taken before leaving home or school

 Pupils must not:

  • Distract the driver except in an emergency
  • Ask to be dropped off anywhere other than their agreed stop
